Compassiobn in me Tibetan Book of the Dead and the Tractate Mourning: A Comparative Study

Abstract

These two texts (The Tibetan Book of the Dead and the Jewish Tractate Mourning) are therefore completely different in appearance. One is solely deceased-oriented, while the other is solely survivor-oriented. One deals with a whole range of unverifiable assumptions about what happens after death and shows almost no concern for the survivors while the other deals with the community and the response of the survivors and therefore with very manifest empirical realities. One is abstract while the other is pragmatic. The question the author put forth in this work is whether, despite these profound differences, there are any uniflying emotional. The author will begin by examining the contents of each text and will then give a comparative analysis.
